Book of the Month

Okay, so you already know that I love subscription boxes but I also love to read. And I know some of you are thinking, READ?, I barely have time to squeeze in a shower every other day. And it's true, my reading definitely takes a backseat to many things... specifically my children. Because they are little time monsters and some days I've heard 'Moooommm' so much I want to hide. Wow, yikes, is it time for school to start yet? I digress... Anyhow, even though it can be tricky to find time to read, I really love it, and especially love when it sucks you in and its hard to put down. I LOVE books like that! Some of the ones that sucked me in were, The Night Circus, Edenbrooke & Blackmoore, the Uglies series, The Selection series, anything Nicholas Sparks and a new suck you in author I discovered Melanie Dickerson (Christian period romance).

So, to combine my love of subscription services and books, I wanted to give Book of the Month club a try. Once you subscribe you will be given a choice of 5 different books, highly recommended by their panel of judges to choose from each month. Each book option will have a description along with a referral from the judge on why they chose the book in the first place. You can choose one book, add additional books if you just love the recommendations or you can choose to skip that month if nothing looks worth the read.

Some of the appeal of this was being introduced to new books I wouldn't normally pick up and read if I was left to my own choosing. I am a hard core hopeless romantic, ok people. If something works for you, you wear it out! Am-i-right?

Okay, so you want to see what ended up in my first ever BOTM box?

FIRST BOX:

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

The Animators by Kayla Rae Whitaker

SECOND BOX:

American War by Omar El Akkad

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

Do you think I've read any of them yet? Of course not. But when you do finish your book you can go back in and rate the books on your account and it will give you a more personalized recommendation based on your past ratings. I'll also be posting my ratings here and telling you just what I thought. Need something new to read? Give Book of the Month a try and tell me what your favorite reads are! Now go... get lost in an amazing story!
